Demo 12:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33776055/Terrablox/tb12.zip

Changes:
  • Fixed glass texture alpha issue
  • Fixed world waving like water when post-processing enabled
  • Minor optimisation; less faces modelled in edge-cases with non-generated chunks
  • "enableAudio" setting added to INI file
  • Crosshair now hidden in fixed-camera mode
  • Added camera roll effect when looking side to side
  • Ground foliage now removed with underlying block
  • Fixed terrain sometimes vanishing when the camera z position is over 128
  • Fixed chunks sometimes ceasing to generate or update
  • Block names are now displayed within the inventory
  • Externalized font resource, this can be changed within the INI file
  • Ground foliage is now procedurally rotated, to break up the tiled look
  • Enabled "imageQuality" setting when post-processing is enabled
  • Added setting to toggle smooth camera movement to the INI file
  • Added the plank block (Goodness know how I missed this before)
  • Trees are now instanced, so they can be placed over multiple chunks and generate individually with those chunks
  • Added keymapping support (Not strictly final, but should be suitable for most cases)
  • Added gamepad support (As above, there is a few situation not yet handled)
  • Water is now transparent

Known bugs (At time of writing this list):
  • Possible not all desired controls mapped
  • Menu selector vanishes when not using gamepad

Ooh! It looks amazing! I can't wait for collisions and stuffs!

I tried going through some of the settings (I loved the logo in the readme file btw),
and I was a little disappointed to find that a lot of settings weren't already implemented, like I tried to add a new block in the block index, though that just got overwritten. I also tried to take screenshots, and i'm sure sure if that worked or not, (since I can't find the files)

Anyways I also noticed that placed water looks fine but for some reason the randomly generated water wave's go up into the above block.

Edit: I realize now that 'take snapshot' doesn't mean take a picture XD
Also, I tried the gamepad support, it's pretty nice, I would want to be able to take the sensitivity down.

I've made some stuff for terrablox, but I'm too lazy to link to much of it.

Demo 13:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33776055/Terrablox/tb13.zip

Changes:
  • Fixed issue with gamepadSensitivity setting issue in INI file (it wasn't reading/writing correctly)
  • Added a pictureSmooth setting to INI file to toggle interpolation of final render
  • Added main menu
  • Started work on achievements system (there's some visible but non-functional parts of this)
  • New default texture pack (You may have to delete old texture for this to take effect)
  • Possibly other things, been a while and I can't remember what I added before I had to leave it

Hope to be able to make more frequent updates again now. My plans are currently to re-introduce the previous TB style worlds (limited but wrap), worlds based on heightmaps, and character/collisions. Then work on saving/loading (Memory is currently very good compared to before, very low, so even compression should be fast as there's little data to actually compress.)

Demo 14:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33776055/Terrablox/tb14.zip

Changes:
  • Character model (currently static)
  • Character movement and collisions.
  • Camera toggle (F2) to switch between third-person and free-camera

I didn't realize it was 2 months since a release! Derp. In that time I done 2 game jams, I think, and released 2 games on android. So I guess time flew by. 0.o

It took me a while to get my anti-virus to allow the program, but I suppose that is to be expected.

Do you think you could make the window smaller or just add the ability to change the size of the window? The window is currently so large that I can't even see the window bar at the top, which isn't very fun.

Also I think the camera is broken, or just way too sensitive, when it isn't connected to the mouse, it has an isometric view, and when you move, the screen moves way too much (which would be very annoying while you were building)

Despite all those bad things above, I really like the look of the game! I think the new default texture goes well with the player model, and the world generation is fantastic looking (though perhaps it could use some more lakes instead of just streams)

As usual, I can't wait for the next update!

AVG has been giving me a bit a grief with GM EXEs recently, it seems random when it decides to kick in though. So I'm not sure what that issue is, but it's most-likely a false-positive.

You can scale the window if you drag the edges, you can also change the default size in the INI file (C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\terrablox_source). But yeah I can make it smaller by default, I also want to add in a setting menu to open up all that INI stuff.

The camera IS broken yes, thanks to GM's caching this was being hidden from me until after I done the release... Derp.

I want to change the terrain gen, I want to actually completely move away from noise in world-gen. There are much faster, better and more believable ways of creating worlds, I've touched on the subject a few times before, I just need to actually do it. :P

out of curiosity, when do you plan to add multiplayer?

It's dead, but not as dead as the chat.

Online multiplayer will come some time after I've added in saving/loading, as that will determine the kind of data sent between the players. LAN is essentially the same as online. Split-screen multiplayer, well, I have it on my to-do list, and it should just be a matter of refactoring the player/characters a little bit to allow separate inputs, and some split screen support.

Let me know what you think of the current demo, I'd like to get any kinks sorted asap before I start on major changes.

Well  I can't really judge because i'm using ubuntu, i've tried using a virtual machine but it runs at 3fps.

I'm not familiar with using VMs but I'd say that'd be expected on most games? There's a lot of computation and memory access, I'm sure going through a VM is choking it up.
What I can do, is try and get Ubuntu in a VM on my machine, to get the game running on it, I don't imagine that'd be too fast either but then at least you'd be able to run it natively (which should be a lot faster).

I'm sure you're aware of this bug, but just to make sure i'm going to say this anyway.
I've discovered this bug where sometimes in creative mode and in adventure mode
you can't place or remove blocks.
wombo combo edit: can't jump when this glitch occurs either.
heads up edit: this glitch only occurs when i use the chat.

Yes, I have already fixed that issue. :) It was to do with the wrong check, it was stopping user interaction when the whole chat was open, rather than just the text input being open. I think I actually hit the bug during the last video! :P
But yes, definitely report any bugs you find and any suggestions you have that you think the game will benefit from. Will have a new demo soon, probably Tuesday, with some massive improvements!
